TED とは
TED とは1984年に始まった世界的なプレゼンテーションカンファレンスです。
TED は Technology, Entertainment, Design の頭文字を表し、未来を作るための「価値のあるアイデアを広める」という目的を持っています。
近年は米国カリフォルニア州ロングビーチの TED カンファレンス（春）と、英国エジンバラの TED グローバル（夏）が TED の2大イベントとして定着しています。
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

TEDx とは（x = independently organized event）
TEDx（テデックス）は、TED の精神である「広める価値のあるアイデア」を共有するための地域イベントコミュニティーです。
TED-like（TED みたいな）経験を提供するイベントが世界各地で開催されています。
日本では東京、大阪など都市のコミュニティのほか、東京大学、大阪大学、早稲田大学、立教大学など大学と TED がコラボレーションしたTEDxUniversity も開催されています。
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
TEDxNagasakiU とは
TEDxNagasakiU は TED の理念に共鳴した学生が集まり、TEDx イベントを長崎大学で開催しようという目標の元、2018年に発足しました。
年に1度、TEDx イベント開催をするための企画・運営をする学生中心の非営利団体です。
本物のプレゼンテーションイベント TEDx で長崎の人々を繋げ、地域コミュニティーを生み出す、長崎で今までなかった新しい価値を伝えるという目標を持っています。
TEDxNagasakiU 2019 のテーマは大きく三つあり、「Key（学生たちが新しい世界へ向かう、気付く鍵）, Youthquake（若者が地震のように社会を揺らし変化を起こす）, DEJIMA（外から新しいものを受け入れる）」となっています。
